State Street in New Haven is overlooked by some, because it’s not considered walking distance from the downtown area. But it shouldn’t, as there are a number of great bars and restaurants all conveniently in a row! One of the great stops on State Street is Cave a Vin. Decorated with pink colored Christmas lights all year round, this little gem is a nice, mellow night out. On weekends, you can find live jazz musicians playing as you sip your wine. They have a great wine list, so I suggest you to try their wine flights which offer three small samplings of your choice. They are very knowledgeable and more than happy to give you suggestions on which wines would suit your particular taste. Their menu is filled with great appetizers to share, and cheese boards with new cheese specials frequently. If you’re feeling a bit more hungry, they also have a number of paninis, both sweet and savory. Smore’s Panini, wine, and jazz music with friends on a Friday night? I think so.
