What is light as a feather, warm and comfy like your favorite flannel shirt, but also looks and feels great?
The answer please – It’s The North Face ThermoBall Jacket!
When I first tried this jacket on, I was surprised by how incredibly light weight it was. The product description says its 11.6 oz. In my book that means it’s less than ¾ #! When you slip it on, it’s so light that you can hardly feel it on your shoulders. But just because it’s light weight that doesn’t mean it lacks the warmth you are looking for in a light winter jacket. The ThermoBall utilizes PrimaLoft insulation which is equivalent to 600 fill down. And because it’s synthetic it will shed moisture better than down. The jacket is quilted in 1 ½” x 2” segments that keep the insulation from bunching up and give it a distinctive look. This jacket looks great and is true to size. It is long enough for us folks with longer torsos. Because of the quilted construction and non-bulky insulation, this jacket is very compressible. It can be stuffed into one of its hand pockets, or as an alternative, I was able to fold mine, size XXL, into a gallon size zip storage bag. ThermoBall comes in both jacket and vest styles. I opted for the long sleeved jacket.
The ThermoBall is a great addition to your winter clothing repertoire that can be used by itself for a trip to your favorite mall or outdoor outfitter. Or it can be worn under a hardshell jacket when you snowshoe to one of your favorite peaks.
