Night Rainbow will be illuminating the night sky above New Haven starting tonight and going through Saturday night. This is just one of the events going on this week that lead up to Saturday’s 375th Anniversary of New Haven.

The Night Rainbow by Yvette Mattern beams will start at East Rock Park, work their way across the city, and finally fade into Long Island Sound. The idea behind the Night Rainbow is to invite people from all around to come in and celebrate New Haven. Depending on where you are located in the city the Rainbow’s form will appear differently. As you explore the different views of the Rainbow you will be brought into various neighborhoods in the city.

Night Rainbow isn’t the only thing going on in New Haven leading up to Saturday’s big celebration. It is also Restaurant Week in the city. 29 restaurants around the city are taking part in this event. They are offering a three-course, prix fixe menu including an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Lunch is priced are $18.00 and dinner $32.00.

Everything leads up to New Haven’s 375th Anniversary Celebration on the Green Saturday beginning at 1:00PM. There will be music, dancing, horse drawn carriage rides, story telling, and much more. Festivities will wrap up around 4:00PM. Check out a video of Night Rainbow last year in the United Kingdom.
