Stone Age Rock Gym

195 Adam St.

Manchester,CT

860-645-0015

Recently some employees at our Mohegan Sun location took a group outing to the Stone Age Rock Gym in Manchester. Stone Age is an indoor climbing gym that also offers outdoor guide service and climbing school. The indoor location has a 4500 sq. ft of textured vertical climbing terrain. For outdoor trips Stone Age leads climbs in Connecticut Wolf Rock (Mansfield Hollow), Rattlesnake Mountain(Farmington), Pinnacle Rock (Planville), and Ragged Mountain(Southington). In New Hampshire they have fully outfitted trips to Cathedral and White Horse (North Conway) and also Clifton Crags in Clifton, Maine.

Here is what Kathy from our Mohegan Sun store had to say about her experience:

“I had a blast climbing around the walls of The Stone Age Rock Gym last weekend with some of my Mohegan Sun co-workers. We were there for a 2 hour lesson with two instructors. Kevin and Jen were very skilled and really encouraging. Mike Jones was the hero of the day by making it to the top of the 32ft 20degree wall. I highly recommend that you give indoor rock climbing a try. So much fun!”

I am, much to the contentment of both of my parents, home “safe”, back in Connecticut and missing the multitude of inspiring climbs, dry, thin air, and outdoor spirit that is Colorado. My departure wasn’t to be without one big goodbye adventure, however, and so when my friend Mark and I sat down to pick [...]

You’ve seen the pictures, heard the stories, watched the tantalizing footage in a movie or TV show. But then you look around and nobody seems to know any climbers, and you haven’t a clue about where to begin. Years ago, rock climbers started out as hikers and mountain climbers. Technical rock climbing was a natural [...]

I don’t know what it is about Vermont…but I love it. Maybe it’s the beautiful green mountains, where you climb 4,000 feet up a wonderfully graded trail. Maybe it’s the glorious and plentiful water sources that consist of picturesque streams and pristine mountain springs. Or maybe it’s the plethora of real Vermont maple syrup, found [...]
