Post image for Tuesdays with Laura: Berlin Wall Art

The Berlin Wall East Side Gallery is a 1.3 km stretch of wall with approximately 106 sections of street art, making it the largest open air gallery in the world.

The wall that once confined East Berlin and that represented the division of the country after World War II, is now a showcase of international artists with messages of peace and freedom for the world.

It is located in Mühlenstraße near Osbanhof Station between the neighborhoods of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg.

Here is just a little taste of what the gallery offers:

It is amazing to consider the history and transformation of this wall. The concrete and wire divider that lead to hundreds of deaths as people tried to cross it illegally, is now a statement of change, history and an attempt at peace. If you ever have a chance, check it out, it’s is a must see.
